First off, let me just say that I’m so thankful that we are back to school; in person. I don’t take that lightly. And we successfully survived the first week of school!
Second, my baby started Kindergarten and I have a lot of feelings about that. I am so proud of her though. Maggie is my kid who has struggled with being separated from me. So I was dreading the tears and the potential prying off of me. Yet she did so great! And oddly enough I was relieved and sad. Saddened by the fact that she really is growing up and maybe doesn’t need me in the same ways she once did (as I watched her walk into the classroom). It’s a lot of complex emotions. Can you relate?
I’m so proud of Asher, too. The classes were mixed up this year so he didn’t go in with his usual group of friends, but as he does so well, he rose to the challenge of something unknown, and also had a great first week. This little guy has a lot going on. He recently started vision therapy (and no, it isn’t just for kids who need glasses). We feel it might be the piece we’ve been missing for him. I’ll share more about that as we go. I’d love for this part of his journey to help others.
And I’ve got some new news. I’m now the assistant preschool teacher on the same campus as my kids! Finally putting my MaEd to use!! Ha! It was a great opportunity that fell into my lap- now that I have 2 kids in full time school. I’m excited to help teach those sweet kiddos and pray I can have a positive impact on their life. Ash and Mags like that I’m on the same campus, too.
So here’s to new beginnings for Back to School in the Dahl house. May it be a blessed year for you and your kiddos.
