Hey there friends!! Haven’t done a kid style in quite a while, but felt inspired and snapped these at church yesterday. I really do love how this shot captures Ash and Mags and their natural poses- I took a bunch, but when I think about it, the first picture is often the winner.
I want to be honest about a couple of things here. One, both of their outfits are hand-me-downs and Asher’s is the Carter’s brand, Maggie’s dress is Old Navy. Frugal mamas rejoice!! And since they are both growing a ton, this is most of their wardrobe (hand me downs, that is). Anyone with me on that?? And two- I admit that I look at some blogs in admiration at their perfectly posed and pre-meditated pictures on their posts. I’m no photographer, I’ll own that. Yet, I did get a “nice” camera and I’m slowly trying to learn how better to use it. Yet my phone is still the easiest go-to. Right??!! And at this stage of life with littles, I often feel blessed to get what pictures and posts up that I do. My goal has always been to be real with you all. I’m just a mama doing my thing with my fam. I want to share the stories of our redheads and other things I encounter and am passionate about in life. And I’d like to think of it as imperfect perfection. Ok, just getting that out there.
Since it was the Sunday before Labor Day, I donned Mags (and me too) in white. Do you all do the “no white after Labor Day” thing?? I’ll be honest, I didn’t even know about this until I was in college. Shout out to my fab college roomie Kristen who is from Texas and taught me a lot about fashion rules. I was clearly in the dark about a lot!! Ha! I get the idea here as in most parts of the country it’s fall and colors all around the natural landscape are changing. But here in AZ, it’s still over 100 degrees until like October 31st for the most part, and our surrounding colors don’t change much. Fun to wear white one last time all the same. Side note: I usually frown at white for kids, because inevitably stains will always find white. Always. I can tell you DIY things I use for stains if you are interested.
And let me talk about my dress for a second. Even before that, let me talk about my fashion sense. I’m not sure I have much!! (You can laugh here.) There’s a reason I usually stick to “kid style”- I figure most of y’all will think my redheads are cute no matter what they wear.
But seriously, I do love to shop for clothes. Yet I also need and want to be wise with my money and don’t enjoy taking my kids clothes shopping for me. So. Much. Whining. Enter my love for online clothes shopping. Heck, I have a love for online shopping of all kinds. I got this dress on Amazon. Yep. I’m told it’s no longer available, not that you were interested. Ha!! And can I say never to underestimate the amount of happiness pockets in a dress hold. I don’t know what it is, but add pockets to a dress and I’m like giddy!! So get yourself a simple maxi dress with pockets and you’ll never regret it.
I hope your Labor Day is filled with family fun, BBQs, swimming, laughter, music, pockets, or whatever fills your cup. Reach out and let me know all about it!!
