Be a Wife in Prayer

As a woman, we are so many things to so many people.  As a mother, that compounds the roles we play immeasurably.  Nurse, chef, mediator, chauffeur, storyteller, singer, fashion consultant, and the list goes on. Yet, even if you are a mama, most of you are also a wife; don’t let that role go dormant.  The Bible calls us to respect our husbands, and in turn, this shows them our love.

I feel that one way we can do this is by praying for him.

Even if your husband has it all together, don’t we all benefit from prayer?  I will never turn down someone praying for me. #takealltheprayers

Here are some ideas for ya:

1. My favorite way to pray for Brandon, is through Stormie Omartian’s book, Power of a Praying Wife.  This book was actually the first by this author that I was introduced to.  (I’ve referenced another book on being a praying parent in my Be a Mom in Prayer post.) I’m sure there are many other great guides out there as well, but this one has been so great for me.  It hits on so many areas that I would never have thought to pray about.  His temptations, his affection, his fears, his past, his faith, his reputation, his fatherhood, and the list goes on.

2. The next thing I use is a list of 25 verses to pray over your husband.  I was given a copy years ago, but you can find it online HERE.  Nothing magical, just a way to guide you to specific Bible verses while praying.  I don’t know about you, but sometimes it’s fun to find verses on my own, yet mostly in this stage of life I’m in, I need relevant verses already found for me. Just being real.

3. Final idea, let your kids hear or see you praying, and invite them to join in.  Not only will this encourage them to pray for their daddy, but hopefully they will want to pray for other people, as well! Plus, there’s power in numbers when it comes to prayer!! And selfishly, I feel that praying with your kids is a bonding time between you, and hey, I’ll take all the bonding time I can get.

I hope you have been encouraged by my prayer posts!! That’s really my heart behind them- encouragement.  I do not have things all figured out, nor a perfect track record on being a woman, mom, or wife in prayer.  We are all works in progress.  Give yourself grace, and start a new habit if that’s where you’re at. Reach out and ask questions, or let me know how it goes! I’d love to connect! (And, yes, this is one of our wedding pictures- so fun!!)
