Healthy Mama, Healthy Family- Part 2

Part 2

Fellow Mamas- you are the glue to keeping your family running and keeping them healthy!!  In my Balance and my Healthy Mama, Healthy Family posts, I stressed the importance of a mama doing well physically, emotionally, and spiritually, in order to truly help your family. Be an active follower of Jesus. Address your health issues. Take time to exercise and care for your body. I believe these are extremely important things.

Ok, so you’ve got those areas in the works. Now what?

I’m now a lover of clean products for my home and family. Who isn’t these days, right?! A lot of trends will come and go. Yet, if something can help your health, your family’s health- pay attention, maybe it’s not a trend!! Companies are not looking out for us. Things have changed since we grew up. There is more junk in products out there than we know. They sneak in a word like “natural” to get us off track. Read the labels. Don’t take my word for it. Look up the words you can’t pronounce on the ingredient list. The health of you and your family is worth it. Heard of the Think Dirty app? It’s a great place to start seeing if products you use contain junk.

Did you know that most women put 300 chemicals and toxins on their bodies each day through products used? Our skin absorbs 60-70% of anything used topically. My health journey had lead me to realize that what we put in and on our bodies is so important. And I don’t know about you, but my little redheads and I have sensitive skin, so that’s another great reason to pay attention to products.

We use Young Living in the Dahl house. There’s a reason these oils and products are all around.  They. Are. Good. And if you haven’t heard of this company, check out my Healthy Family [link] tab for lots of info.  Here’s kind of a Cliff’s Notes version on oils and Young Living.

What are Essential Oils?

Per Dr. Axe:

Essential oils have been used for thousands of years in various cultures for medicinal and health purposes. Essential oil uses range from aromatherapy, household cleaning products, personal beauty care and natural medicine treatments. The particles in essential oils come from distilling or extracting the different parts of plants, including the flowers, leaves, bark, roots, resin and peels.”

“Essential oil benefits come from their antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. These healing oils are rapidly growing in popularity because they act as natural medicine without any side effects.”

Dr. Axe is amazing.  If you haven’t checked out his site, I encourage you to do so.  He has a ton of information on all different essential oils and their benefits.  He is in no way connected to Young Living.  I just find his research valuable.

So why did I choose Young Living for essential oils and natural products when there are so many sold in stores??

If you are like me, right now you are saying, “I’m done reading this.  I have to sign up for something, or order from someone.  It’s just easier getting things at Target or the grocery store.”  I get it, I do.  And I hope you or your loved ones don’t ever have health problems. Yet, I also read that using chemicals comes at a cost.  That cost could be your health. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but someday.

Why Young Living? Because for over 21 years they have been the world leader in producing and guaranteeing 100% pure and potent therapeutic grade essential oils and plant based products. They’ve got this standard called “Seed to Seal,” which places them in a category higher than any other company in the world.

Basically, what “seed to seal” means, is from the time the seed of the plant is sourced, until it is put into an essential oil bottle or a plant based product, Young Living applies the most rigorous quality controls possible to ensure that you are receiving the product exactly the way nature intended it to be. Simply put, the only thing inside the essential oil bottle is the plant itself – no additives, fillers, synthetic fragrances, preservatives, or dyes (which is NOT the same for store bought essential oils). Oils can say they are “organic” if they possess 10% organic material.  So scary!! Pretty much all the oils sold in stores are only meant for aromatic use- FYI.

The same high quality goes for all of Young Living’s products – the only ingredients within the products are the ones listed on the label, and they are all plant based. Not one single ingredient is synthetic, toxic, or chemically derived. Now tell me that doesn’t get ya.

So above all that, for me, Young Living can be a one stop shop.  From toothpaste, shampoo, makeup, and kids care products, to household, cleaning and health products- they’ve got me covered.  And it’s all delivered to my door.

I’m also guessing that 99.9% of you reading this signed up for Amazon.  And you paid a fee for Prime.  It’s a yearly fee. Young Living is a one time amount that you get a lot of great discounted items for, plus it entitles you to an account where you can order what you need and it all ships to you. Plus, if you are like me and you order enough to keep your family in stock of essentials, you earn points to buy more items, and you get lots of freebies!! Because Young Living likes to keep mamas like us happy.

Why should I care?

It’s all about preventative maintenance.  Stopping the “cause” before it happens by supporting the systems in the body.  Oils can be used for just about everything!! Whether you are looking for oils to help you sleep, for natural immune system support, for energy, for focus, for relaxation, for your kids, or for natural alternatives to personal care and cleaning products- there is an oil for that!!  And, like I mentioned before, using chemicals comes at a cost.

If you need help getting your hands on these great oils and products, you can grab your starter kit here and start ordering!  If you have a few more questions first contact me or check out this info here.

Ladies- be sick and tired of junk. Not just sick and tired! Don’t be about what’s trendy, be about what’s healthy!!  Product brand matters. These products are legit. They are not just trending for the moment. Here’s to your health!
