Healthy Mama, Healthy Family- Part 4

Part 4- and final (I think)

Fellow Mamas- you are the glue to keeping your family running and keeping them healthy!!  In my previous Healthy Mama, Healthy Family posts, I stressed the importance of a mama doing well physically, emotionally, and spiritually, in order to truly help your family. Be an active follower of Jesus. Address your health issues. Take time to exercise and care for your body. I believe these are extremely important things.

This post is going to focus on some of my go-to “health” products, beyond my Divine Nature supplements (which you need to check out) and my bazillion (it’s a word) Young Living products (which you also need to check out). Because we really do need to keep our “Mama Toolbox” loaded with options. As they say, one size does not fit all.

Part of my health issues are that my adrenal glands don’t function properly.  And due to that, caffeine can be my enemy, causing some serious fatigue and non-functionability.  (I think I just made up a word.) The biggest change I could make was to cut my coffee. Gasp!  I know! I just lost total relatability with some of you, and others just vowed never to read my blog again.  Ha!  Hear me out.  I love coffee!  I mean, I have memories from when I was little and I could smell my dad’s coffee.  It was heavenly.  I still love coffee, just caffeine and I do not love each other.  If you ask me to grab coffee with you, I’ll still totally go.

I actually think a lot of people have symptoms or side effects that may be triggered by caffeine, and don’t even know it.  Take a look at how much you are consuming in one day, and if you really do need caffeine in order to get going, and stay going.  I’ll give you a couple of alternatives here.  And who says no one looks out for you, but you.  I’m here for ya friends!

I think I spent every day that I worked towards earning my Master’s degree in a Starbucks.  (Side note, yes, I have a Master’s Degree in Education. Fancy that. I haven’t used it since putting on my mom hat, but I’ve got it!!)  And cutting caffeine has made a positive difference in how I feel.  So what do I do instead?  I was introduced to chicory root “coffee”, called Teeccino, by a friend with similar health issues.  Thanks Vennessa!!  I love it!  I brew it and add a little milk or raw honey and its part of my morning ritual. So, so good. It has some great benefits such as restoring a natural alkaline balance, providing a natural energy boost, supporting gut health, and the list goes on. But don’t take my word for it, check it out.

I also love Ningxia Red.  (Ok, so this is made by Young Living. I had to- it’s amazing.) It can naturally give me an energy boost if I need it. Great to start the day or to beat an afternoon slump. Seriously the best. Plus it’s packed with antioxidants and works to energize body and mind.  We all need a little of that, don’t we?

So what is this stuff?? NingXia Red® combines the NingXia wolfberry super fruit with pure vanilla extract, Orange, Yuzu, Lemon, and Tangerine essential oils, along with plum, blueberry, aronia berry, cherry, pomegranate, and plum juices. It’s yummy, trust me. It’s great for kiddos, too. The NingXia Wolfberry has been extensively researched and it contains the highest level of antioxidants and proteins as well as more vitamin C and calcium than any fruit or vegetable ever tested!  I know, crazy, right??

One serving of NingXia Red was found to be the equivalent of 7.5 mixed servings of fruits & vegetables. Uh, try getting that many fruits and veggie servings in your family on a regular basis!  This drink really takes care of us!!  I can get you more info if you are interested.

The last item I’ll focus on in this post is Apple Cider (AC) Vinegar.  So all the things I chose are liquid- not intentional. Ha!  AC Vinegar is natural, non-toxic, all the “yays”- but go for the one with the “mother”. That term cracks me up.  The mother is the good stuff in the AC Vinegar.  Clearly whoever named it knew what they were talking about. The filtered AC Vinegar doesn’t have all the greatness.  I seriously love this stuff for the amazing amount of health benefits and number of ways it can be used!! For example, use it when feeling like yucky sickness is coming on, if you are feeling run-down, for all kinds of skin issues, earache, and so much more!! Bonus- it’s good for people and pets!! And super bonus- it’s cheap!!! I know, you’re welcome.

So my sister is also on a similar “get the toxins out of my house” and “be a healthy mama” journey that I am.  She’s awesome, and it’s so great to have her by my side.  She wrote an amazing post on AC Vinegar and its many uses.  I’m sending you there to read more.  Please check out her blog A Fireman’s Wife; it’s great and you don’t need to be a fireman’s wife to get so many ideas on recipes, homeschooling, modest fashion, organization and more.  So much awesome in one place.  She doesn’t have her own redheads, but she loves mine and I know you’ll love her!!  The former teacher in me came out here with an old saying I learned back in the day- beg, borrow, and steal, don’t recreate the wheel. So enjoy her info on AC Vinegar. (Don’t worry, I did get her permission.)

Here’s to your health!
